Welcome ! We are excited for the coming season. If your child is new to baseball, we realize it can be overwhelming to shop for equipment. We've created this guide to help you get started.
Shoes - If your child is new to baseball and playing at the T-ball & Rookies level (PreK & K), the majority of players will be fine with regular gym shoes. We recommend buying a separate pair for the field, as there will be days where these shoes will get covered in mud or grass. For Future Stars, Pinto, Stallion and Mustang (1st - 4th) you can use gym shoes, but we recommend buying cleats from your favorite sporting goods store. From 5th grade and up, you will want to purchase cleats to use while playing.
* If purchasing cleats either softball or baseball cleats are fine, there is no difference, but try to avoid soccer/lacrosse/football/track styles as they have a different tread pattern. Do not buy metal cleats, they are not permitted.
Pants - We will supply baseball pants for all levels but our high school league. These are intended for use during games. Note we supply standard size gray pants (XS - XL), if you child requires special accommodations you will need to purchase your own from your favorite sporting goods store. You will need to supply athletic pants (warm ups / sweat pants) as appropriate for practice conditions.
Jersey / shirt - We will supply a single team jersey which should be worn during games. You'll need supply a t-shirt or similar to wear as appropriate for practice conditions.
Bat - We do not supply a bat. Though we do have bats which we make available to coaches if they request for a player. We recommend purchasing a used bat to start. Please visit our bat rules page for information about legal bats. A good way to determine if the bat is right for your child is to have them hold the bat in their dominant arm out at arm's length. If they can keep the bat level and steady for 10 seconds they will be ok to control it when swinging.
Glove - You will need to purchase a glove for your child. As a new player we recommend checking used options first. Glove size should be what your child is comfortable wearing and is able to squeeze closed with their hand. Glove size recommendations by age 3-6 (8.5"-10"); 7-12 (10.25"-12"); 12+ (11.25"- 13").
Baseballs - While we supply all the balls for practice and games, we highly recommend you purchase a few baseballs so you and your child can play catch at home. Safety balls are used for Tball and Rookies. A regular ball for Future Stars and older. Additionally, whiffle balls make for great batting practice at home, less risk of causing damage to siding, windows, etc.
If you have any additional questions, please send your question to your league's VP. They should be listed as a contact under your league homepage.
