High School Softball

Continue your child’s love of the sport of softball through this competitive league

Ages	9th, 10th, 11th and 12th grade (for the most recent school year)
Games	10-12 games per season
Cost	$245.00 base price for Palatine residents
Commitment	Teams will meet 2-3 times per week for games and/or practices.

LEAGUE INFORMATION

High School is a competitive league with combined ages.
Teams are drafted by the team managers based on player ratings gathered from a player’s previous year coach. If your player did not play PCBS in the previous year, they are required to attend our ratings day and be graded by a panel. (An email invite will be sent with the time and location of ratings day after registration if your player needs to attend.)
Wins and losses are recorded and standings are published.
Practice time slots are 1 hour long. Games are 7 innings with a 1:45 time limit.
An inning is complete after a team gets 3 outs or scores 6 runs. After the fourth inning, there is no run limit.
After hitting 3 batters, the pitcher must be pulled if the inning. If a pitcher hits a total of 4 batters, she must be pulled for the rest of the game.
The pitcher must wear a face mask.
Batters and runners may advance on a batted ball until the ball is returned to the pitching circle.
Players may steal any base.
Mercy rule: Any team up by 10 or more runs after the fourth will win the game.
Intentional walks, bunting, infield fly, look back, and dropped 3rd strike rules are in effect.
Bases are 60’ apart; 84’10” Home to 2nd base; Pitchers mound is 43’.
Bats must be USA Softball certified.
Players will use a 12” ball.
Players are allowed to wear metal cleats on non-turf fields.
