Palatine Piranhas Softball is part of the PCBS’ Travel – Lite program. Piranhas offers skilled players the opportunity to play at a more competitive level while retaining the traditional community elements of PCBS’ Recreational Leagues. Players will play more softball, compete against other local Travel-Lite teams, and have increased opportunity to develop. Piranhas offers a more challenging experience without committing to the high cost and commitment of Full Time Travel.

Tryouts for the Piranhas program are held in early fall and are free, however you will need to pre-register. Players should come properly equipped with protection, glove, bat, and water. Please arrive on time for your scheduled age group’s tryout session.
Who is eligible to play?
The opportunity to participate in the Piranhas part-time travel softball program is open to all registered 8U-14U House softball players. See tryout information above.
Where will travel games be played?
Games will be played against surrounding communities including Barrington, Lake Zurich, Glen Ellyn, Cary and many more. At the conclusion of the house regular season, teams will participate in 2-3 local tournaments. In the past, these have included the Cary Tournament of Stars and Barrington Classic.
Where and when are practices and home games held?
Practices and games are held primarily on Fridays and Sundays as not to conflict with your house team. Piranhas has access to the top-of-the-line facilities provided by the Palatine Park District. We practice and play almost exclusively at the coveted Community or Gbur fields. In the cooler months, Piranhas will have indoor field time at the sought-after Falcon Park Recreation Center.
What are the uniforms?
Adorned in Piranhas gear, your athlete will feel proud representing our great community. Piranhas gear includes two jerseys, pants, visor, socks, belt, and practice shirt. Athletes will be able to choose their own number which will appear on their jerseys.
What is included in the program fee?
The fee to play Piranhas is in addition to the cost of registration for the house league. The fee includes all scheduled games, umpiring fees, uniforms, and tournament fees. Many local full-time travel teams can often cost well into the thousands of dollars; not including the cost of overnight accommodations. Through our affiliation with Palatine Community Baseball & Softball and the local high schools, the Piranhas program strives to keep costs to a fraction of the cost of other programs.
