Stingray Softball

By joining the Stingrays fastpitch program, your athlete will have the opportunity to play against the top talent from Chicago, Suburbs, Illinois and beyond. Stingrays include opportunities to play fall softball, winter training, and spring and summer games through mid-July. Players will compete against the top players from the local areas and the program is a guide to compete at the High School level and beyond. Typically, there is one team at each age level that is focused on competing against the top talent in the game.

Ages	9U-18U based on a Jan 1 birthday
Games	50-75 games per spring season, potentially 10-25 fall games, 1-2 winter tournaments and out-of-state tournaments throughout the year depending on the age level and competitiveness of each team.
Cost	$1000–2000, depending on tournament and training schedules.
Commitment	Teams will practice 1-2 times per week throughout the year and most teams play 8-12+ tournaments per year.

TRYOUT INFORMATION

Tryouts for the Stingrays program is held in early July and is free, however you will need to pre-register. Players should come properly equipped with protection, face mask, glove, bat, and water. Please arrive on time for your scheduled age group’s tryout session.

Who is eligible to play?

The opportunity to participate in the Stingrays fastpitch program is open to all players. We will select the best players to represent our teams. See tryout information above.

Where will travel games be played?

Games will be played in a variety of areas depending on the age group and the competitiveness of the team. Teams will compete in local, statewide, regional and national tournaments. The goal is to play at the highest level of competition possible.

Where and when are practices and home games held?

Practices and games are held throughout the week and weekends. Stingrays has access to the top-of-the-line facilities provided by the Palatine Park District, such as indoor training facilities and partnerships with local training facilities as well. We practice and play almost exclusively at the coveted Community or Gbur fields and the Stingrays home field is Birchwood Park, a full regulation-size softball field.

What is included in the program fee?

The fee to play on a Stingrays team is based on the individual team uniform and tournament choices. The fee typically includes all scheduled games, umpiring fees, uniforms, insurance, training and tournament fees. Fundraising is typically offered to help reduce the annual cost and is based on team needs.
